Ways to Stop Comparing Yourself

"Comparison is an act of violence against the self." - Iyanla Vanzant

We, women, are conditioned to see each other as competition and it's so hard to stop comparing ourselves to each other. Such toxic thinking, right? I have been trying to figure out how to stop my mind from going down that negative spiral so that I can empower and support my fellow sisters.

Here are 3 ways that helped me quiet that negative “inner” voice that compared me to other women. I am not perfect but I am working on it!

1. I turn the comparison into a lesson.
Often, when I see a woman and I instantly compare myself to her, there is a core wound that is being triggered. Something about her hurts my inner child. Perhaps, she has something I don't. Perhaps, she is something I will never be but was taught to revere as a child. Whenever this happens, I look within and ask myself "what can I learn here about myself? Instead of “I don’t like here because xyz."

2. I work on my self-worth daily.
The more we increase our self-worth, the less we need validation from others AKA less need for comparing ourselves to others. This is a daily practice of self-love and acceptance. The more you concentrate on this, the more you will feel love for other women because there is no need to compare. Women who are 100% confident, don't need to compare to others because they feel secure in themselves. Think of Samantha Jones, for example.

3. I put my money and time in the right place.
I support women. Sure, my mind is not 100% there and does go on comparing spirals. However, when it comes to my actions, I always show kindness and love. I always try to support other women and their businesses. I always try to help friends when needed. I put my money and time in the places I know are important. Plus, you want to treat other women as your Highest Self would treat them! So, start with this today! Even if you aren't 100% there yet, it is okay! Every little action of love and support for other women spreads the love!

I hope that this is helpful so that, as women, we can empower and support each other! We are stronger together!

That’s one of the many topics I usually talk about with my clients, helping them to achieve their best and most confident selves.
