8 Ways to Create More Space in Your Life

Often, I hear clients say, “I don’t have time” or “My schedule is packed.”  But the truth is we need to clear space, time, and clutter to have time and space. No one is doing it for us. This is a ritual that I find myself doing every few months. I clear my environment, I clear my friends, I clear my space, I clear my schedule. It is a tough practice because it often means setting boundaries and/or asking for what you need.

But every time I feel overwhelmed, I know it’s time to do some clearing. To really become intentional and conscious of my life again.

Here are my 8 ways to decluttering your life so that joy can spark through again!

1.Look around your environment

Start with the things in your life. This is usually the easiest place to start because you aren’t going to hurt anyone's feelings. Start to clear your old clothes, get rid of the strange knick-knacks, organize the papers that have accumulated. You get the point! Get rid of shit and clean up your space. A happy home is a happy life.

2. Communication

Tell the people you have to tell, what you have to tell them. If someone is hurting you, tell them! If someone is stepping over a boundary, tell them. Either they will respect you or they are out of your life. Either option is totally fine because it will clear your energetic space!

3.Social Media

Mute the people that trigger you or no longer serve you. This is important to curate your social media so that it adds to your life instead of triggering you constantly. Make sure to leave groups on Facebook that no longer serve you too.

4. Health

Reset your health. Do a health check? Are you sleeping? Are you eating well? Are you moving your body? Do all the checks! Make sure this is a priority. This may include a fridge cleanout.

5. Debt

Do a finance audit. If you owe someone money, pay it now! Don’t let it linger and drain your energy. If you can’t, then make an appropriate payment plan that you can easily pay off.

6. Release the cords

Take a few moments to breathe into your heart and cut any cords you may have to people. Some people attach themselves to us without our consent. Cut those energetic cords so you no longer are dependent on that person for validation.

7. Your schedule

Clear your schedule! Cancel things that you don’t want to do! That is right. If you don’t want to hang out with that friend, cancel it. If you don’t want to continue to go to that boring book club, don’t! RSVP “no” and move on! TIME is the only resource you can never get back so take it back 100%!

8. Give gratitude

Take some time to give thanks for all the people, places, and things you are grateful for! After you have cleared everything out, make sure to give thanks for all the things that serve you now so that they know to stay in your life. If you want bonus points, write some letters to those you love and tell them why!
